Challenges Galore!

Today feels like it has been a super long day!!! The lil Peanut got a couple of shots at the doctor's yesterday and he has been really fussy since. Poor thing is just so uncomfortable! I haven't been able to do much crafts because the baby wanted to be babied. :( After the doctor, we had an early dinner with my family before they headed out of the country today. Here is a pic of the lil Peanut yesterday after he got his shots. Asides from his fussiness today, you wouldn't have known he got a bunch of shots!

At his 2 month appointment, he is now weighing 10lbs, 14 oz and is measuring 22.25 inches long!

Onto my projects! There have been so many challenges lately, that I've decided to try and combine several challenges in one. This first one is based off of a photo inspiration challenge from Birthday Sundaes.

This was the inspiration:

This was my take on the picture:

I took a piece of DCWV cardstock for the base, the trims, and the oval which the cupcake is on. The darker pattern paper is from DCWV, the lighter one is from Target's $1 bin. I took one of DCWV's sand photo real paper and cut out the umbrella out of it. The umbrella handle s made out of toothpick. The buttons are just random buttons I had laying around and the circle embellishments are from Sticko. The cupcake digi stamp is from Paper Squirrel.

This card will also be entered to the following challenges:

The next one is based off a sketch from Paper Crafting Journey's Grly Sketch Challenge.

Here's what I came up with:

I used an AC Cardtock for the card base. The lil pieces of basic cardstock were all leftovers so I don't really remember where each came from. The patterned Cardstock is from DCWV's Nana's Kids Collection. The sentiment was from a Cosmo Cricket Cardstock. The digi stamp is from Fairy Knoll.

This card will also be entered to the following challenges.

It's gonna be a long night! The little one is fussy so I should head to bed while he isnt too bad.

Thank You!

Today is my little Peanut's 2nd month birthday! Time flies so fast!!! This was one of his very first pictures taken at the hospital by my dad. He was born May 26th, 2011, 5lbs 4oz, 18 inches long!

This little guy came almost a month early. To think, two weeks before he was born, I created this for DCWV's May Stack-a-holic Challenge, where this lo made it as one of the top 10!

These were his baby shower invites. The baby shower was less than two weeks before he was born.

Yesterday was a lazy day for me. I started a card, which is unusual for me to start one and not finish. I stopped mid project to create these prayer cards. My family is flying out to the Philippines tomorrow for vacation and I made these wallet size cards for them to put in their wallets.

I found this Travel Prayer through Google and was sent to this blog. Thanks to everyone who share on their blogs!!

I was finally able to create the Thank you card for my aunt! I made it using DCWV basic cardstock and a paper from their Premium stack. This was my first attempt at a digi stamp, which I got from Papiersalat's Blog

I am entering this card to the following challenges:

Hopefully I do well on those challanges!! I was going through my reader feed and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that I had won Triplicate Trial's Tuesday Challenge! Until I can figure out how to customize my blog, my badge of pride will be right here! :)

Also check out this feature of my mini hat at Scrap Our Stash's blog. Hopefully this project does well!!

Well today is a busy day! We have to go to the little Peanut's 2 month doctor appointment, plus dinner with my family before they leave tomorrow!

Thanks for reading!

Feelin' Hot, hot hot!

The past two days' weather has been a lot hotter than mother nature has given us recently. Today is going to be in the high 70's as well. This warm weather is making me rather lazy. It's making the little Peanut fussier than normal, too so we've spent a lot of our time in the downstairs part of the house, far away from my crafts. I've only been able to work on one project between yesterday and today. I was browsing blogs looking for challenges. I saw a lot of Christmas in July challenges, so I went for that. I also combined it with a few other challenges.

I just used some basic cardstock for the base. I embossed the light pink cardstock using a Fiskars template and glued it on top of my DCWV cardstock from the Premium Stack. I cut a small piece of bright pink cardstock and used a Fiskars border punch around it. I used K and Co letters for the writing and Jolee's sticker for the embellishment. I made the flower using some scrap paper, tied a ribbon through a button and glued it all together.

This card is going to be entered into a few challenges:

Now for my "throwback" project! I made this after watching the movie Easy A.

Hopefully I can gather up more energy to do something besides browse digi stamps today! I really want to start adding those to my projects. I still need to make a thank you card for my aunt!

Catch you later!!

Scrapaholics Anonymous

I think I may have to join one of these soon!! I can't seem to stop buying supplies! Yesterday I stopped by Scrapbook Nook. The temptation was too much, so I left and decided to go to Ross for awhile. Well, I didn't know Ross had a small scrapbook section filled with older kits for a very good price!! I just couldn't help myself!

The weather was AMAZING yesterday! I didn't do much since I had a Dr's appointment, so I just laid low and just made a couple of things. My friend and my scrapping mentor's little girl is celebrating her first birthday in a few weeks. So, I created this card for her.

I just took a basic piece of pastel cardstock and created a center step card fold. The design paper is from DCWV's Nana's Kids collection. I cut out some butterflies from a Cosmo Cricket cardstock and used some K and Company Embellishments. The Lady Bug is from Color Bok, with a couple more K and Company gems!

Scrap our Stash was having a Red, White, and Blue challenge but I couldn't think of what to make! I had tons of paper, but was blanking out on a project! I wanted something unique and I wanted to make something other than a card or LO. I stumbled upon this Mini Hat from Craft Warehouse, and it was PERFECT!!! I also entered this to Just for Fun's Precious Metal Challenge.

I used DCWV's Summer Dream stack to create this. I didn't exactly follow the template that Craft Warehouse had. Didn't feel like plugging in my printer. :-/ The ribbon is once again from Target's $1 bins. The  embellishment in front were just random buttons I had laying around connected with wires. The back had some tulle held by paper flowers.

Here is my throwback project for the day. I made this as an Dating Anniversary Card for my husband last year. Yes, we celebrate our dating and our wedding anniversary! :) I try to not just give him a card for our anniversaries because I make cards for everyone else, so I made him this mini book.

Well today is another gorgeous day! My husband's working, maybe the little peanut and I will go on an adventure. I still have a few things I need to do though. I will be expanding my crafting corner, to a bigger corner of the house! :) That should be fun. I still have to play around with the craft supplies I bought yesterday! Plus, I found some awesome paper organizers for $1 at Target! I will have pics of that once I have my corner situated! I also need to make a thank you card for my aunt. Maybe I can do all this before my hubby gets home and all three of us can go on an adventure!

Have a good day!!

Summer Lovin' Had me a.......Jacket?

It seems as though Mother Nature forgot the memo on having summer in Washington this year. It is currently cloudy and is 68 degrees, but this morning it was 58. Even though I do love summer weather, what better way to spend days like this? Catching up on crafts and hanging out with this little guy right here. This lil peanut is 8 weeks old today!

Since I just started this blog and I have tons of crafts I've done before, I have decided that on each post, I will  showcase both new and old projects! Hope you guys like them!

After being with my husband for 3 years and taking a massive amount of pictures, I didn't think I would be able to scrapbook all the pictures I took. Well back in April, being about 7 months pregnant, I got put on bed-rest. Did I rest the whole time? No. Was I in bed? Yes! I started doing my crafts on the bed because technically, that was bed rest, right? :) Well while I was on bed rest, I spent tons of hours scoping out blogs and learning more about paper crafting. The one thing I discovered that I absolutely love, are CHALLENGES!! I'm super competitive and love to try and win, so what better way to get crafts done? I looked for challenges and joined so many of them! I eventually ran out of challenges, that I started making Christmas cards in April!! Here are a couple of projects I have created.

I wish I remembered which blog I entered this for, but I know they were having a hand made flower challenge, plus another blog had a challenge using this Sketch Savvy Template. I figured, why not combine them into one project?

This next one I created a few weeks after giving birth to my baby boy! It was made using Sketch Savvy's Template for DCWV's June Stack-a-holic Challenge. Unfortunately, I had an air head moment, composed the E-mail to send the challenge, but never hit send. I discovered this in my draft box about a week ago!

These two projects were both done today. I created this project for Artful Delight's July's Sketch Challenge. Also, my husband saw the "Sunshine" page I made which is featured in yesterday's post and asked me where his page was!

*note: It says The Apple of my EYE! The "f" is there, but is just camouflaged! :)

This one is for Triplicate Trials Tuesday TTT #4 Challenge.

Now to showcase some of my cards. My mom needed a card for a Baptism and she was giving them a gift card, so I figured why not make a cute gift card holder? I just created a tiny envelope using basic card stock and made a little sleeve that slides over to keep the envelope closed.

The greeting on the inside says "May the Lord give His angel charge over you, to guide you in all your ways. --The Bible, Psalm 91:11"

The next two are birthday cards/gift cards I made for my friends Paulette and Jackie, who both celebrate their birthdays in the month of July! Both were made using the Double Pocket Diagonal card fold. One pocket is for a small tag with a greeting or birthday wish and the other pocket is for the gift card.

I hope you guys enjoyed today's featured projects! I will definitely have more in the next few months! I'm on maternity leave until September and will be taking advantage of this time!

Craft Channel

This is an interesting new concept! Check it out!

My Craft Channel

FINALLY!

I've been meaning to make a blog/site where everyone who is and is not on Facebook can follow. Despite what a lot of people may think, there are still a lot of folks out there who haven't jumped onto the Facebook train!

This blog will chronicle my journey as a first time mom and all the crafts I create on the way. I've always been into arts and crafts, but haven't found anything that I could dive into! I've been doing Origami since I was little, but that was mostly for fun and I've never displayed my work. Over a year ago, I was introduced to scrapbooking by my friend and coworker, Emily. I've done scrapbooks before, but she showed me a whole other level! With my first year of marriage wrapping itself up and a million pictures I took that year, I figured what better way to chronicle our first year together!
I found myself clueless when it came to scrapbooking the way I saw Emily did, so I started off simple. After finding a gorgeous leather scrapbook and my very first stack of paper, DCWV's All Occasion Glitter Stack, I crossed my fingers and I dove into my first page (but not at the same time of course.)! I had absolutely no clue what I was doing, but I'd have to say I came a long way! This is what opened up my crafting floodgates!

After dabbling in scrapbooks, I found what I was really passionate about! I love creating things for other people and seeing their reaction from something you created just for them. This is what sparked my dream to become a chef, and this is what lead me to making greeting cards. I want to start a business making cards, but part of my love of the craft, is individually making a card for specific recipients. Eventually, I hope to be able to make a mass amount of greeting cards and maybe start selling them online. Until then, I will enjoy making cards for my friends and family members.

My Grandmothers both celebrate their birthdays in August, so I created their cards using the easel fold. It is made with basic pastel card stock and DCWV's Photo Real Stack 3. I added a little ribbon, which I find at Target's $1 bins, and vellum "Happy Birthday" Stickers.

I have also dabbled in other paper crafts, such as gift bags and gift card holders. Here is my "Couture" gift bag, all hand made. I was rummaging through Scrap Book Nook's clearance section and thought it was hilarious when I saw this piece of Gucci-looking cardstock. I had the paper for months until I finally came up with the perfect project for it. Using my Crafter's Companion, I created the perfect mini gift bag. I also created the leopard print rose that I used to embellish the bag.

Even though cards are my favorite to create, I still make a lot of scrapbook pages to document all the amazing moments of my life. With this new little man in my life, I see a lot of scrapbook pages in my future!

This was initially inspired by Frosted Designs's Quote That challenge! Once I figured out what quote and picture to use, I realized it would be awesome if I used their Sketch Along Challenge (#19). Two challenges in one project! :)

This was inspired by my lil peanut. :), I did a little twist to Sketch Savvy's sketch #45.

This is the beginning of my journey! Hope you can join me!
